Independent checks before you apply

This is a file pre-check and a guided visual review, not an official checker. The Indian mission handling your application decides acceptance. A file that passes does not prove the photo is recent, unedited or correctly framed.

What are the OCI photo requirements?

The OCI portal FAQ asks for a square JPEG/JPG photo, at least 200×200 and at most 900×900 pixels, no more than 200 KB, on a plain light-colour background (not white) without a border, with the face covering about 80% of the photo.

Why won’t the OCI portal accept my photo?

Most often the file is not square, larger than 200 KB, outside 200–900 pixels, or not a real JPEG. The checker shows which one.

What size should the OCI signature be?

The FAQ only says JPEG/JPG, max 200 KB. Crop close around the signature so it fits the portal’s crop box.

Is this an official OCI checker?

No. It measures your file against the limits the OCI portal publishes. The Indian mission handling your application decides acceptance.
